A Case Study for Developing the University Competitiveness Index

This paper investigates the awareness of students in D university in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to examine the university competitiveness index. The research results are as in the followings. First, university students prefer the items in the sections of university competitiveness index such as the quality of education in the condition of education section, the proportion of English courses in the internationalization section, the quality of research in the research section, and the employment rate in the social reputation section. The condition of education section is ranked in the first place, and the social reputation section is ranked in the second place, and the internationalization section and the research section are ranked in the third place on the most important section ranking of the university competitiveness index. Second, the condition of education section is ranked in the first place, the social reputation section is ranked in the second place, the internationalization section are ranked in the third place, and the research section is ranked in the fourth place on the most important section ranking of the cooperation sections among domestic universities. The order of priority for establishing the cooperative relationship is as universities in the whole country area, universities in the metropolitan area, prestigious universities, and neighboring universities.
